Texas A&M University NIEHS P30 Center Integrated Health Sciences Facility Core
The TRSC provides resources and facilitates research of the Center members to enable the progression of environmental health sciences from basic studies to applications in affected people and communities. The TRSC supports the continued development of new model systems based on information from human populations and facilitate the use of mechanistic information in assessment of human risk.
The TRSC includes three areas:
- Human community-oriented translational studies, health & environmental databases (Directed by Natalie Johnson)
- Mouse population-based and target-gene models (Directed by Ben Morpurgo), and
- Novel human and mouse in vitro models (Directed by Ivan Rusyn). Funds are available through the NIEHS P30 grant and generous commitment from TAMU Office of Research to support TRSC “use vouchers”
Scope
In this Solicitation (#Year 1-Q1), projects that relate to the Center theme(s) and are closely related to “Mouse population-based and target-gene models” TRSC focus area will be considered. Proposals for research that is closely related to projects that already have external funding will NOT be considered. A clear description of how the project enhances the investigator(s) NEW research in environmental health sciences, or change in scope in ongoing studies, must be included in the application, should the submitter feel that questions may arise.
Proposal Instructions
The submitter must be a Center member at the time of submission; collaborations with other TAMU faculty and external partners are allowed. It is expected that projects will not exceed 6 months in duration.
Proposals should not exceed one page in length (excluding budget and justification and the NIH- style CVs of any external collaborators) and MUST include the following elements: Title, List of Center and external collaborators, Project description, Description of the relevance to Center’s goals, Description of the benefits to be realized from the use of TRSC, Milestones and deliverables organized in the form of a Gantt chart, Description of the products/deliverables generated by the project (e.g., manuscripts, grant proposals, etc.). Brief itemized budget and justification, as well as NIH-style bios of any investigator(s) who are not Center members should be also included. Submitters are encouraged to present well defined scope and goals.
All documents should be assembled into a single PDF and emailed to Ivan Rusyn (irusyn@tamu.edu). Submissions that do not follow these instructions will not be considered.

Reporting Requirements
A detailed report of the outcomes and deliverables is required at the end of the project, within 30 days of the project’ send date. Project PI will be required to present on the project at the annual Center meetings.
Review Process
Submissions will be reviewed by the Core key personnel (Rusyn, Johnson and Morpurgo) and ranked for priority with respect to meeting the criteria outlined above, the needs of investigators, investigator’s rank and career development stage, and relevance to the Center’s goals. A ranked list of projects will be sent for approval to the Center Director. The TRSC reserves the rights to amend the budgets for the awards, or to make no award for proposals received in response to this solicitation.
